Undecanoic acid, 32, 104 10-Undecynoic acid, 32, 104 Unsaturation, quantitative estimation by bromate-bromide titration method, 34, 86, 89 Urea, 30, 24 31, 11 Urea, I-(T -bromophenyl)-, 31, 8 1-(o-chlorophenyl)-2-thio-, 31, 21 1,1-dimethyl-, 32, 61 I-(P-phenetyl)-, 31,11... [Pg.61]

This selection process is based on simple thermodynamic principles, prior experience, and empirical force field calculations (18,19,I9a). The methodology has evolved to include consideration of unsaturated and aromatic systems and we suggest its use not only in conjunction with but also in place of experimental determinations. The stabilomers for tricyclic, tetracyclic and pentacyclic Cg-C2o s are predicted for cases where no experimental information is yet available. This computational method also allows the quantitative estimation of AAHf regardless of its magnitude. Finally, saturated, unsaturated and aromatic hydrocarbons can all be compared. [Pg.75]

The use of sodium borohydride with palladium chloride has been described for the reduction of olefins in excellent yields. The method is quite reliable and it has been applied as an analytical technique for the quantitative estimation of the degree of unsaturation of a compound or of a mixture. [Pg.5]

Tung oil is reported to contain small amounts of 9,14-dihydroxyoctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid (Davis et al., 1950). The estimation of unsaturation by the Wijs iodine method is not quantitative as a result of the relative inactivity of the conjugated system. [Pg.94]
