Ultra-violet Raman spectroscopy

There are so many techniques in spectroscopy, that I could spend the whole afternoon telling you about them. I have chosen 5 common ones. Mass spectrometry, Raman Spectroscopy, Ultra Violet/ Visible Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. The date beside them gives you an idea of when these techniques came into acceptance. Generally the data that you might find prior to the 40s and 50s will be of questionable quality. Because of many advancements in techniques in the 60s and 70s the best data can be found in the last 30 years. 

While molecular and dissociated CO have similar X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra, 0(ls) at 531 eV and C(ls) at 285 eV [245, 427, 431], the ultra violet photoelectron spectroscopy [245, 427] and laser Raman [432] spectra are different. 

Raman spectroscopy has been utilized in the quant detn of nitramines and nitrosamines (Vol 1, A177-R Ref 61), and ultra-violet spectroscopy is employed for the quant measurement of TNT in HBX compn (Refs 39, 61 63)... 

Most optical detection methods for biosensors are based on ultra-violet (UV) absorption spectrometry, emission spectroscopic measurement of fluorescence and luminescence, and Raman spectroscopy. However, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) has quickly been widely adopted as a nonlabeling technique that provides attractive advantages. Fueled by numerous new nanomateiials, their unique, SPR-based or related detection techniques are increasingly being investigated [28-31].
