Tuning pH Range of Oscillations

The low pH range ( pH 5) at which the oscillator operates is also problematic, as it is far from physiologic pH. The system does not oscillate at all when exposed to physiologic buffers containing bicarbonate or phosphate (unpubUshed). The low operating pH, along with the capture of acidic protons by marble, places heavy demands on the enzyme and glucose to produce H , and these demands 

each of the three methods to raise operating pH range of the oscillating system shows promise, but further work is needed to produce stable oscillations near physiologic pH.
