Troubleshooting HPLC Systems

In HPLC it is inevitable that something will break down at some time because so many interactions are taking place within the chromatographic process— not to mention the many moving parts within the HPLC instrument. It is tempting to dive in and try to fix the problem. However, a word of caution You might do more harm than good. Every action needs to be documented and monitored carefully to ensure quality compliance and to ensure that future results are reliable and accurate. [Pg.187]

The scope of this chapter is limited to troubleshooting HPLC systems using predeveloped and validated methods of analysis. We will focus on some of the most commonly encountered problems and the possible solutions. [Pg.187]

In order to understand the problem, it is necessary to understand how each of the components functions in the HPLC system and the chromatographic processes that are taking place. The main components that make up the HPLC system have been explained in Chapter 2, namely  [Pg.187]
