More recently, binuclear complexes derived from long-chain 3,4,5-trialkyloxybenzoates with chlorine were prepared ((98) M = Ru"/Ru , X = C1) and showed a low-temperature Colt phase, with in particular, room-temperature mesophases for the decyloxy and dodecyloxy homologs. Diruthenium(II,III) 3,4-di- 3,5-di- and 3,4,5-tri-(tetradecyloxy)benzoates also exhibited lyotropic mesophases in dodecane. They all behave similarly, in that the Colt phase is seen at concentrations below 40-55 wt.% of solvent. Above this concentration, and up to 60-70wt.% of solvent, the 3,5-di- and 3,4,5-trialkoxy compounds exhibited an additional CoIn phase. [Pg.475]
