Tributyric acid

Solid AMS samples use carrier carbon in LC fractions having low natural carbon. One microliter of tributyric acid (tributyrin) contains 615 p,g of carbon and is a suitable carrier additive. The compound can be purchased with between 9 and 35% natural biospheric carbon, apparently introduced by ingredient stocks obtained from natural lipids. A set of independently quantified background carrier samples taken with the UPLC trace shown in Figure 16.9 averaged 9.65 0.29% Modern, or an uncertainty of 0.18 amol on the 6 amol... [Pg.551]

Write the formula for glycerol tributyrate, and then write the formula of the fat made from glycerol and one molecule each of stearic (CuHssCOOH), palmitic (CiSH3iCOOH), and myristic (C13H27COOH) acids. How many iso-... [Pg.425]

Starch propionates, with various degrees of propionation up to the tripropionate, have been prepared by refluxing corn starch with propionic acid and propionic anhydride. The lower propionates are water-soluble, but the tripropionate is soluble only in organic solvents. Starch tripropionate and starch tributyrate are easily prepared by treating swollen starch with pyridine and the acid anhydride. These triesters are more soluble in organic solvents than the starch triacetates. [Pg.301]

The six mono- and di-O-butyryl derivatives of 1,6-anhydro- -D-glucopyranose and the six corresponding palmitic acid esters have been prepared from the tributyrate and tripalmitate respectively, by partial methanolysis and hydrazinolysis. The experimental findings regarding the regioselectivity of the deesterification reactions were related to polar and steric effects identified by quantum-chemical calculations (PCILO). ... [Pg.75]
