Triazines fiber-reactive dyes

Triazines are well known and established as fiber-reactive dyes, optical brighteners, explosives, resins, and polymers . Pogosyan and Zaplishnyi have reviewed polymers which contain 1,3,5-triazine <83AKZ207>. 

Among the newest of the dyes are the fiber reactive compounds, which form a covalent link to the hydroxyl groups of cellulose. The reaction involves an amazing and little understood nucleophilic displacement of a chloride ion from the triazine part of the molecule by the hydroxyl groups of cellulose yet the reaction occurs in aqueous solution. 

Warm- and cold-dyeing double-anchor dyes are prepared by incorporating halo-triazinyl and vinylsulfonyl reactive anchors. The bond between the triazine ring and a fiber is stable under basic conditions, whereas that to the vinylsulfonyl group is stable to acid.
