The unsubstituted 5-thioxo-l,2,4-triazin-3-one (36) shows an UV spectrum which is similar to those of the 2-methyl, 4-methyl and 2,4-dimethyl derivatives, implying that the 2//,4//-tautomeric form is the predominant one (62CCC1886). 5-Methylmercapto-1,2,4-triazin-3-one (37) and its 2-methyl derivative (38) show completely different spectra.
