It is the duty of the Manager to ensure that trademarks are not misused and so lose their value to the company. Everybody is aware that trademarks can start to be used as a noun, for instance Hoover became synonymous with household dust cleaners some time ago. Once this happens then their use as a trademark is called into question. It is easy to fall into this trap in verbal presentations at scientific meetings and also in written papers in the scientific and trade press. The Manager should be on the look out for any signs of this happening, ensure that all staff know the rales, and that a checking procedure for outside publications is in place. 

With reference to insecticidal activity, volatility could be seen as either a pos-itive or a negative property. Losses from surfaces could reduce efficacy whereas vapour activity could be beneficial. In terms of environmental fate, loss to air is not considered to be a major issue other than for highly volatile and/or stable molecules. Nevertheless, the volatility of [ CJPBO from plant leaf surfaces was assessed in a laboratory system. PBO as an 80% emulsifiable concentrate was applied to french bean leaves, 0.25 pg a.i, cm"2, which equated to a field rale of 250 g a.i, ha"1, and moist air passed over (he surface at a rate of 1-2 ms 1 for 24 hours. Volatile C was trapped and analysed. Approximately 9% of applied radioactivity, all as [KC)PBO, was volatilized in 24 hours which, under the lest conditions, was comparatively low. 

At infinite dilution, there arc no radical-radical reactions. Practice shows that the size a coagirlation of drops on an exit makes of the eontact device, as a rale, more than 150 microns. Corpuscles of such size are easily trapped in the elementary devices (the inertia, gravitational, centrifugal, etc.). 

Upon warming to room temperature, 9 was slowly converted to aniline complex 14. In independent work, it was similarly found that hydrogenation of PhCMe=NMe by 2 in the presence of the external amine trap p-MeOCeHrCHMeNHMe afforded 90-100% of the complex with the newly reduced amine [25]. These intermolecular trapping experiments are consistent with an hmer-sphere mechanism and rales out the direct formation of the free coordinatively unsaturated intermediate A. However, they leave open the possibility that the initial product is a hydrogen-bonded intermediate H or a solvent-caged intermediate I, which collapses to amine complex 9 more rapidly than the amine leaves the vicinity of the ruthenium.
