Synthesis transcription

A prerequisite for cRNA transcript synthesis is the presence of the cDNA of interest within a suitable expression vector containing a bacteriophage polymerase promoter (e.g. T3, T7 or SP6). The vector must be linearized downstream of the cDNA insert prior to its use as the template in the in vitro reaction. [Pg.330]

Transcription is catalyzed by DNA-dependent RNA polymerases, which use ribonucleoside 5 -triphosphates to synthesize RNA complementary to the template strand of duplex DNA. Transcription occurs in several phases binding of RNA polymerase to a DNA site called a promoter, initiation of transcript synthesis, elongation, and termination. [Pg.1006]

Model for the regulation of enzymes of the GAL system, (a) Three structural genes synthesize distinct mRNAs and enzymes (transferase, epimerase, and kinase). Arrows next to the genes indicate the direction of transcription. Synthesis requires the GAL4 protein. However, it is inactive in the absence of inducer because of complex formation with the GAL80 protein. The GAL80 protein does not... [Pg.803]

The TGF-/3 stimulation of fibroblast locomotion utilizes RHAMM. TGF-/3 is a potent stimulator of motility in a wide variety of cells. In fibroblasts, TGF-/3 triggers the transcription, synthesis, and membrane expression of not only RHAMM, but also the synthesis and expression of the HA, all of which occurs coincident with the initiation of locomotion.136... [Pg.253]

Morphological control of materials is required to obtain unique, often advantageous, and enhanced material properties. This chapter reviews recent research on the use of organic templates for the transcriptive synthesis [1] of inorganic materials, in particular silica and metal oxides, with controlled structures. [Pg.92]

An alternative to the polymerization o/vesicles with polymerizable surfactants is the polymerization in vesicles, or vesicle templating, in which a hydrophobic monomer swells the surfactant bilayer and is subsequently polymerized (Fig. 2b). In this case the vesicle is used like a mold that directs the polymerization process, and the surfactant molecules themselves are not incorporated into the final polymer. This is a transcriptive synthesis. The polymeric... [Pg.199]

This drug intercalates DNA base pairs, causing the helix to uncoil and thereby inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and transcriptional synthesis of RNA. [Pg.290]

Two main methods are being explored in the vesicular tem-plating solidification in vesicle (morphosynthesis) and vesicle-directed growth (transcriptive synthesis) (see Figure 4.6). [Pg.57]
