Traditional careers technologies

Professor Kenneth S. Susliek, who received his B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology and his PhD from Stanford University, has spent his entire academic career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Although his research interests have spanned the traditional areas of chemistry. Professor Susliek and his group have been especially interested in sonochemistry, the chemical effects of ultrasound in which sound waves (pitched above human hearing) are applied to solutions. [Pg.174]

Today, graduates at the doctoral level from programs in technology and policy, who want to enter academic careers, face similar problems. The difficulties of finding hospitable academic homes in traditional academic departments are not serious in fields such as energy or environment. However, in other areas such as telecommunications or information policy, graduates with outstanding technical credentials still cannot find jobs in EE departments. They do, however, find positions in schools of information systems, in business schools, or in schools of public policy. [Pg.278]
