2 Torispherical Shell Surfaces of the Reactor Vessel Top Dome [Pg.211]

The torispherical shell surface is formed when a toroidal segment is inserted between a spherical and a cylindrical cap. The dome surface is always used as well for the reactor vessel. [Pg.211]

The geometry of this shell is shown in more detail in Fig. 4.18. [Pg.211]

In terms of the radii of curvature of the sphere ai, the toroid a and the cylinder a2, the meridional angle at the sphere—toroid junction is given by [Pg.211]

In practice, the radius of the toroid is selected so as to provide smooth transitions at both ends. [Pg.211]
