Tolypothrix conglutinata

In the synthesis of the nonamethoxy-l-pentacosene (622), a naturally ocurring poly-methoxy-l-alkene isolated from the blue-green alga Tolypothrix conglutinata var. chlorata, the backbone is assembled using two aldehydes (620 and 621) (Scheme 91) [146]. [Pg.243]

Some species of the family Scytommataceae produce isotactic polymethoxy-l-olefinic hydrocarbons. It is in the species Tolypothrix conglutinata var. chlorata that the first examples of these polymers were characterized (Mynderse and Moore, 1979), but since then it has been isolated from the species Scytonema mirabile and S. burmanicum. The structures were confirmed by synthesis (Mori, Kohchi, and Suzuki, 1991). [Pg.180]
