Scytonema mirabile

Tantazoles. Several unusual cytotoxic alkaloids were isolated from the blue-green alga, Scytonema mirabile (Carmeli et al. 1990). A combination of HMQC and HMBC data were utilized in the elucidation of the structure, but no details of the long-range connectivities were given in the paper. The structure of didehydrotantazole-A (47) is shown. The authors comment... [Pg.80]

Some species of the family Scytommataceae produce isotactic polymethoxy-l-olefinic hydrocarbons. It is in the species Tolypothrix conglutinata var. chlorata that the first examples of these polymers were characterized (Mynderse and Moore, 1979), but since then it has been isolated from the species Scytonema mirabile and S. burmanicum. The structures were confirmed by synthesis (Mori, Kohchi, and Suzuki, 1991). [Pg.180]
