Material Safety Data Sheet, Amoco TMA, Amoco Chemical Co., Chicago, hi., June 1989. [Pg.502]

Trimelhtate Esters. These materials are produced by the esterification of a range of alcohols with trimeUitic anhydride (TMA), which is similar ia stmcture to phthaHc anhydride with the exception of the third functionaHty (COOH) on the aromatic ring. Consequendy, esters are produced ia the ratio of three moles of alcohol to one mole of anhydride. Common esters ia this family are tris-2-ethyhexyl trimeUitate (trioctyl trimeUitate, TOTM) L79TM, an ester of mixed semilinear C and C alcohols and L810TM, an ester of mixed linear Cg and C q alcohols. [Pg.122]

Pseudocumene. The Hquid-phase air oxidation of pseudocumene yields trimeUitic acid [528-44-9] (15) which is dehydrated to trimeUitic anhydride [552-30-7] (TMA) (16). Amoco Chemical is the sole U.S. producer with a plant at JoHet, Illinois, having a capacity of ca 47,000 t/yr. Lonza ia Italy is the sole European TMA producer. [Pg.510]

Thermal analysis helps in measuring the various physical properties of the polymers. In this technique, a polymer sample is subjected to a controlled temperature program in a specific atmosphere and properties are measured as a function of temperature. The controlled temperature program may involve either isothermal or linear rise or fall of temperature. The most common thermoanalytical techniques are (1) differential scanning analysis (DSC), (2) thermomechanical analysis (TMA), and (3) thermogravimetry (TG). [Pg.655]

DSC helps in determining the glass-transition temperature, vulcanization, and oxidative stability. TG mainly is applied for the quantitative determination of major components of a polymer sample. TMA or DLTMA (dynamic load thermomechanical analysis) measures the elastic properties viz. modulus. [Pg.655]

TMA 0.7H2O xHal3H (TMA= trime-sic acid, x = 0.09 for Hal = I and x = 0.103 for Hal = Br) [32] or M(dpq)2 Hal (M=Ni Pd dpg = diphenylglyoxime) L33] have been tested with the intention of modeling new conducting materials. Electrical conductance was reported to depend only negligibly on the nature of the anions. Infinite linear chains of essentially Hal5 units were found in XRD analyses [32]. [Pg.180]

Thermal-mechanical analysis (TMA) has proven a more reproducible measure of melt integrity [20]. The TMA test involves measuring the shape change of a separator under load while the temperature is linearly increased. Typically, separators show some shrinkage, then start to elongate, and finally break (see Fig. 5). [Pg.561]

Other parameters which have been used to provide a measure of a include physical dimensions (thermomechanical analysis, TMA) [126], magnetic susceptibility [178,179], light emission [180,181], reflectance spectra (dynamic reflectance spectroscopy, DRS) [182] and dielectric properties (dynamic scanning dielectrometry, DSD) [183,184], For completeness, we may make passing reference here to the extreme instances of non-isothermal behaviour which occur during self-sustained burning (studied from responses [185] of a thermocouple within the reactant) and detonation. Such behaviour is, however, beyond the scope of the present review. [Pg.23]
