Tire blankets

After the whole structure is built, a fastened tire blanket could be used as upstream and downstream riprap to reduce scouring or erosion on riverbed and protect the riverbank. This tire blanket should be either tied with the body of grade control structure or anchored to the subjacent soil. [Pg.199]

Styrene monomer was purified by vacuum distillation over CaHi. Inhibitor in styrene was removed using activated alumina. N-heptane was purified by distillation over sodium to remove tire trace of residual moisture. The purified slyreaie and n-heptane were stored over activated alumina under nitrogen blanket. Et[Ind]2ZrCl2 Strem Chem.), MAO (modified methylaluminoxane, type 3A, Akzo Novel) wee used without fiirtha" purification. [Pg.849]

The security blankets of children belong in this context. Apart from tactile stimuli, they also provide a familiar odor, particularly in strange surroundings. Many children will not easily accept a familiar blanket, piece of cloth, or tattered teddy bear that has been washed. A particularly inventive 3-year old boy held a cloth toy close to his nose when tired or stressed. Asked why he did so, he answered to get the smell right (Russell, 1983). [Pg.125]

Rayon Regenerated cellulose with less than 15% OH substituted Highly absorbent, soft, comfortable, easy to dye, good drapability Dresses, suits, slacks, blouses, coats, tire cord, ties, curtains, blankets Avril, Cuprel, Zantel... [Pg.267]

About an hour later Aiden felt so tired he laid down on the couch to take a nap. Katie covered him with a blanket and left. Aiden never woke up. The combination of OxyContin and beer had been strong enough to stop Aiden s breathing. Tom found him dead on the couch the next morning. [Pg.19]

What do we think of when we hear fiber Clothing, certainly, and other textiles such as sheets and blankets, curtains and upholstery. Some fiber goes into carpeting—for offices, homes, automobiles, and recreational vehicles. Automobile, truck, and bus tires are strengthened with the use of fibers called cords. Some fiber is used for industrial purposes such as insulation and filtration. Hollow fibers that act as membranes are used in the desalination of seawater by reverse osmosis and in kidney dialysis. As we have already seen, extremely high-strength fibers are used to make bulletproof safety equipment and to reinforce polymers for high performance ap-... [Pg.169]

Finally, the student should famiharise himself with tire contents of the Section in the Appendix upon Laboratory Accidents, with the position of the fire extinguisher, buckets of sand, first aid cabinet, and the fireproof blanket. [Pg.206]

Several of the eontinuous filtration units discussed below may be operated in pressure and vacuum conditions thus the continuous rotary vacuum drum, disc or hnmimtsjl belt filter can be enclosed in a pressure v seL Separation may then ensue by use of a gas pressure blanket in the vessdL This technique is oflen used in solvent fihrations. Some processes m the simultaaeous use of pressure upstream, with vacuum downstream of tire filter in this maimer, the continuous filtration characteristic can be coiqiled with fairer filtration dif ential pressures. [Pg.400]
