The alkyl group (R) of the thiuram disulfides is typically methyl, ethyl, or butyl. For low levels of airborne nitrosamines, the R group can be iso-butyl or benzyl. The thiuram hexasulfide based on piperidine is unique in that the molecule contains six atoms of sulfur linked together. The thiurams are potent accelerators as well as sulfur donors. [Pg.416]
