Thiocyanates bridged

Some interesting cases of isomerism in bridged complexes do arise. The thiocyanate bridged complex shown in Figure 3.41 is a good example of the ambidentate behaviour of the thiocyanate (confirmed by X-ray) while in the complexes [Pt(PR3)(SR)(SR )]2 the choice of isomer is determined by the order in which the thiolate groups are introduced (Figure 3.42). 

Using a triazole-/pyrimidine-containing hybrid ligand, terminally coordinated in a thiocyanate-bridged copper(II) dimer, Haasnoot et al. reported250 the structure of the f3 isomer of complex (288), revealing that the Cu-SCN distance is relatively short compared to other Cu-SCN... 

Vahrenkamp and co-workers formed a number of chelate-stabilized ketone complexes with pyridylphenyl ketone. Octahedral complexes formed with a 2 1 ratio of ligand to zinc were formed with trifluoromethanesulfonate, chloride, and bromide anions. 1 1 reactions resulted in the formation of square pyramidal [ZnL2X]+ with X = Br, I, and a trigonal-bipyramidal dimer [L2Zn(NCS)2]2 with thiocyanate bridges.350... 

Similar reactions have been carried out to produce complexes that contain thiocyanate bridges. The examples given are just a few of the large number of anation reactions.

Complexes with thiocyanate bridging between Au1—Au1, Au1—Aum or Au1—Pd11 centres can be prepared, for example according to equation (22).204,205...
