The LPSs of H. pylori strains share the common characteristic of expressing epitopes in their O-chains similar to hnman histo-blood gronp antigens. However, fine points in overall and fine strnctnral details differentiate these LPS molecnles. With this fact in mind, and in order to create a systematic gronping of different H. pylori LPSs, the LPSs from the strains of wliich the chemical strnctnres are known were classified into specific glycotype families (Table 111).
