JSMBE sponsors several awards to recognize excellent papers, research activities, and industrial contributions. It also has the Ogino Award to provide a grant for promising research. [Pg.186]

In the realm of education for Medical and Biological Engineering in Japan, JSMBE organizes 5 training courses a year for clinical engineers and conducts certification examinations for clinical engineers, with approximately 5000 applicants. It also provides accreditation service for clinical medical engineering specialists. JSMBE has accredited 444 specialists in total. [Pg.186]

JSBME has actively collaborated with IFMBE and has been involved with various IFMBE s activities. Since 2006, IFMBE, JSMBE, and related Asian societies established IFMBE Asia-Pacific Traveling Fellowships for Junior Faculty in Biomedical Engineering. It supports mutual visits of young Asian researchers in this field in Asian districts and their participation in IFMBE World Congress. [Pg.186]
