It is also important to take account of the differences in the composition of carpet by face fiber type in the two market segments. Residential carpet makes up about 70% of current sales. The distribution of sales by face fiber is given in Table 5.2. Carpet comes in two basic constructions, broadloom and tile the tile category is not broken down further by face type it is mainly nylon 6,6 but it is an important subcategory of commercial carpets, about 30% of sales, due to the already viable recycling market for this product.
