Texture lateral

In false twist texturing (FTT), shown schematically in Figure 7, a device twists yam upstream of its location as the threadline passes across a heater, and the yam untwists downstream from the device and is wound up. If the yam is not heated downstream from the twist device, it has bulk and high elasticity (stretch). If the yam is heated downstream from the twist device, it has bulk, but much less stretch. FTT machines initially used two steps to sequentially draw and texture. Later machines combined those steps to simultaneously draw and texture (92). Initial machines used pin spindles as the false twist device. Texturing speeds were about 150 m/min and slowly increased to about 300 m/min. As POY quaUty and stmctural stabiUty improved, new... [Pg.331]

After fermentation, cacao beans are dried and then transported to the factory for roasting. The ultimate purpose of roasting is to develop desirable bean flavor and aroma, as well as the necessary texture for later grinding. As shown in Table 4, the methylxanthine content of cacao beans was not found to change significantly during the roasting process.5-24 26... [Pg.179]

The lack of software for the decomposition method in two dimensions in application to electron diffraction texture patterns was avoided by Zvyagin and Zhukhlistov by using one-dimensional methods of intensity extraction. Later the decomposition method for one-dimensional radial profiles (starting at the centre of the diffraction pattern and passing through... [Pg.133]

Type II mineralization is replacement type mineralization occurring in the fragmental tops of mafic flows, within the Sunnyside Formation near its lower contact with the Archibald Settlement Formation. Type II Veins and veinlets are commonly intricately banded with zones of early rhythmically-layered amorphous silica and later sulfide commonly displaying framboidal textures. [Pg.513]

Cathodoluminescence images from the GB deposit show primary quartz of Type II veins (blue CL), with visible growth zoning in CL. These are crosscut by later hydrothermal Type III vein quartz that exhibits growth textures in short-lived blue and red CL colors. Both Type-ll and -III veins are weakly to moderately brecciated and are overprinted by later fluids that modified the primary quartz to red and/or yellow hydrothermal quartz characteristic of higher temperature and likely reflects... [Pg.545]

Some crystals exhibit a texture called a center-cross pattern, the origin of which was, at one time, a subject of controversy, as to whether the origin was by growth or by plastic deformation. The center-cross pattern is schematically illustrated in Fig. 9.12 it corresponds to a texture shown by the growth sectors of two coexisting crystal faces, lll and 100. This pattern indicates that the arms of the cross correspond to the growth sectors of 100, which disappear at the later stage of... [Pg.181]
