Tetramethylammonium triphenyl

Workers at Spectra Group, Ltd. (5) have recently investigated use of borate compounds (tetramethylammonium triphenylbutyl borate (1), and butyryl choline triphenyl butylborate (5) in conjunction with DIBF, OPPI and DIDMA.

Several calorimetric methods were reported for spironolactone using different derivatization reagents, such as thiosemicarbazide at 440 nm [24], 4-dinitrobenzene at 400 nm [25], isoniazide at 375 nm [26], acetic acid-acetic anhydride then H2SO4 at 500 nm [27], 2,3,5-triphenyl-tetrazolium chloride and tetramethylammonium hydroxide at 480 nm [28] sodium nitroprusside at 700 nm, and phosphotungestic acid at 410 nm [29]. 

In an attempt to demonstrate the existence of pentavalent nitrogen, Schlenk and Holtz studied the reaction of triphenylmethyl sodium with tetramethylammonium chloride (52). The highly colored material was strongly conducting in polar solvents and could be identified as a salt, the stability of which is due to the resonance stabilization of the triphenyl-methide anion. In the absence of such stabilizing substituent effects (53), as with n-butyl or another alkyllithium reagent, a metalation of the tetramethylammonium cation occurs, which leads to type I products (18) ...
