Tetraethyleneglycol

A solution of A-(2-chloro-4,6-dimethyl-3-pyridyl)salicylamide (0.42 g, 1.52 mmol) in tetraethyleneglycol dimethyl ether (4 mL) was treated with NaOMe (0.123 g, 2.28 mmol) and the stirred mixture was heated at 220 JC for 3 h. It was cooled to 20 C, diluted with H20 (25 mL) and neutralized with 1 M HC1, when the product separated. An additional amount was obtained by extracting the filtrate with Et20 total yield 0.193g (53%) mp 242-244.5 C (aq EtOH). 

Examples of other frequently used surfactants that able to form reversed micelles without the addition of cosurfactants are didodecyldimethyl ammonium bromide [17], do-decylammonium propionate, benzyldimethylhexadecyl ammonium chloride [18], lecithin [19], tetraethyleneglycol monododecylether (C12E4) [20], decaglycerol dioleate [21], do-decylpyridinium iodide [22], and sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate [23],... 

In the author s laboratory, it has never been found necessary to resort to matrices other than glycerol or 1-thioglycerol for the analysis of saccharides and glycoconjugates. Nevertheless, alternative matrices are often equally effective, and, in some laboratories, they are preferred. The most widely used include tetraethyleneglycol (4) and its higher-molecular-weight relatives, the poly(ethyleneglycol)s, and such basic matrices as N,N -bis(2-aminoethyl)ethylenediamine ( triethylenetetramine, 5), 2,2 -...

Monomer I (MAA) was dissolved in methanol and I moI% of crosslinking agent, tetraethyleneglycol dimethylacrylate (TEGDMA) (Polysciences, Inc., Warrington, PA), and I wt% of initiator, 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyI acetophenone (DMPA Aldrich, Milwaukee, WI) were added. The solution was cast on glass plates equipped with spacers and reacted under an UV source with an intensity of 1 mW/cm for 30 min. Polymer I (PMAA) was removed from the plates, washed in deionized water to remove all unreacted monomers, cut into discs, and dried in a vacuum oven.

Chain Cross-Linking Photopolymerization of Tetraethyleneglycol Diacrylate... 

Network formation by photopolymerization has been studied for tetraethyleneglycol diacrylate (TEGDA) using isothermal calorimetry (DSC), isothermal shrinkage measurement and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). Due to vitrification the polymerization does not go to completion at room temperature. The ultimate conversion as measured by DSC seems to depend on light intensity. This can be explained by the observed delay of shrinkage with respect to conversion.

Small amounts of non-ionic surfactant (tetraethyleneglycol mono- -dodecyl ether) are found to have a pronounced effect on DPPC bilayers.113 In particular, the order parameter of the lipid chains measured via 2H NMR is found to be significantly reduced, suggesting that the slower chain motions are affected by the surfactant. T studies, though, show that the high-frequency motions, which are dominated by kink motions of the lipid chains, are unaffected.
