Tetradecyl acetates

Lofstedt, C., Hannson, B. S., Dijkerman, H. J. and Herrebout, W. M. (1990). Behavioural and electrophysiological activity of unsaturated analogues of the pheromone tetradecyl acetate in the small ermine moth Yponomeuta rorellus. Physiological Entomology 15 47-54. [Pg.328]

Tertiary pheromonal blends have been identified in two noctuid moths. The red bollworm, Diparopsis castanea, emits dodecyl acetate, (E)-9-dodecenyl acetate, 11-dodecenyl acetate, and (E)-9,ll-dodecadienyl acetate as a sex pheromone, whereas Spodoptera littoral is utilizes a blend made up of tetradecyl acetate, (E)-9-tetradecenyl acetate, (E)-ll-tetradecenyl acetate, and (Z,E)-9,ll-tetradecadieny1 acetate (89). For both species, the conjugated dienes are the most potent olfactory stimulants. [Pg.216]

The extent of pheromone degradation under field conditions was investigated with a microencapsulated formulation containing a saturated hydrocarbon and acetate (octadecane and tetradecyl acetate (14 Ac)), the corresponding monounsaturated hydrocarbon and acetate ((Z)-4-octadecene and (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14 Ac)) and a diunsaturated acetate ((Z,S )-9,ll-tetradeca-dienyl acetate (ZE9,ll-14 Ac)), chosen so that all the components had similar volatilities. On exposure to sunlight, loss of the diene was more rapid than loss of the monounsaturated components which in turn disappeared faster than the saturated components (Fig. 1). All components disappeared at a similar, slower rate when shielded from direct sunlight. [Pg.132]

E,E-8,10-Dodecadienol and 11-tetradecyl acetate were also prepared by the author. [Pg.54]

The chemistry and repellent efficacy of the anal exudate of the Cuban laurel thrips, Gynaikothrips ficorum, a gall-inhabiting species, have also been examined (9). The exudate is dominated by a 1 1 ratio of hexadecyl acetate and pentadecane tetradecyl acetate, tridecane, tetradecane, and heptadecane constitute minor concomitants. The anal secretion of ficorum is both an... [Pg.16]

The chemical nature of the Harpagoxenus substances is unknown, but the main components from Formica pergandei and F. subintegra are decyl, dodecyl and tetradecyl acetates. These substances originate in the hypertrophied... [Pg.445]
