The correlation of transference number and conductivity is given in Eq. 1. To measure the cationic conductivity, a reference substance has to be defined with two nearly identical imiic conductances for the cation and the anion, such as tetrabutylammonium tetrabutylborate [14], The measured molar conductivity can be simply divided by two, and thus, the ionic conductivities are determined. The next step is to measure a salt with the already known anion and the required cation. Thus, the ion conductivity and the transference number of the cation can be calculated as well.
