To avoid misunderstanding, it is crucial to use the correct terms and expressions during quality management. A list of definitions can be found in the appropriate section.

As stated previously, two processes occur simultaneously during the thermal process of drying a wet solid heat transfer, to change the temperature of the wet solid, and mass transfer of moisture to the surface of a solid accompanied by its evaporation from the surface to the surrounding atmosphere, which in convection or direct dryers is the drying medium.
