Task 1 Describe the As-Is Situation

At the outset of the project, the SC and DT should establish the boundaries and issues related to the project. If this is a process, then boundaries can be a list of functions and oiganizations covered. The process can be confined to a single function such as manufacturing, procurement, or distribution, or across a business unit, or across a multicompany supply chain. [Pg.189]

A list of issues to address will also guide the project. Issues can be questions that the Steering Committee would like answered. What causes delay What is our quality level How do we compare with the best How do we compare with our competitors By the time we complete Phase 1, the questions should be answered. [Pg.189]

Catalog of activities or steps in the process. This comprises decisions required, steps, skills, and who performs the activity. [Pg.189]

Definition of metrics that characterize the process. This should include volumes, elapsed time, work time, and costs. [Pg.189]

Customers for the process. If possible, group customers into segments, including both internal and external users. [Pg.189]
