Task analysis operational sequence diagram

Operational sequence diagrams are flcw-charting techniques that represent any sequence of control movements and information collection activities that are executed in order to perform a task. Various activities in the diagram are represented with a symbolic notation, supported where necessary by a text description. For the majority of simple applications, OSDs assume a linear flow drawn from top to bottom with a limited degree of branching and looping. The symbols used are usually tailored to fit the type of task being studied and its level of analysis. 

After the task analysis forms have been filled out, you may wish to develop an operational sequence diagram. This is a graphical depiction of human-machine interactions and decision-making flow in the performance of a task over time. Because this graphical system representation is so labor intensive, it should be used only for very complex systems, such as nuclear power plant operations. 

This approach is based on six function testing and inspection tasks (i) scheduling (ii) preparation, execution, and restoration (iii) failure reporting (iv) failure analysis (v) implementation and (vi) validation and continuous improvements. Thus, the approach is composed of six tasks based on checklists and analytical methods, such as influence diagrams, cause-defense matrices, and operational sequence diagrams (OSD).
