Target identification, methods

A chemical genetic approach (Figure 1C) combines the use of an organized chemical library with phenotype screens and a robust target identification method to produce novel targets of interest coupled with interacting chemistry. 

There are a number of techniques used for target identification. Radioligand binding was a common technique until recently. Now DNA microarrays, expressed sequence tags, and in silico methods are used.
