Target composition of the bituminous mixture

The compaction of the specimens is carried out by a gyratory compactor in accordance to AASHTO T 312 (2012). The number of gyrations used is 100. However, when aggregate wear by Los Angeles is 30%, then the desired number of gyrations reduces to 75. 

The tensile strength ratio (TSR) of SMA is determined from specimens with air voids 6.0% 1.0%, and the test is conducted in accordance to AASHTO T 283 (ASTM D 4867 2009). 

The drainage test is conducted according to AASHTO T 305, at temperatures expected during production.
