Synthesis of 2-Methyl-2-chloro-l,3-disilapropanes

Another possibility for the synthesis of these compounds could lie with the metalla-tion of PhMe2Si—CCl2Me with n-BuLi to produce PhMe2Si—CClMeLi, followed by reaction with methylchlorosilanes. Investigation showed that this pathway was not adhered to rather, butylation products of methylchlorosilanes and polymers were formed. This is probably due to the instability of the carbenoid PhMe2Si— 

Access to Me3Si—CMeCl—SiMe2Cl 246 was possible through Me3Si CCl2— -SiMe2Ph
