Symbols, units, conversion factors, and constants

Many symbols, units, and constants are defined as they are introduced in the text. Those more commonly used are given here.

Quantity 1 a.u. of mass length charge energy velocity 

A consequence of the use of these units is that /r = 1, jjlb = Vi, and = /2. They may be augmented by the choice of c = 1 for the speed of light. Use of a.u. eliminates many of the constants in the Schrodinger equation.
