This workbook is a guided tour through the steps of the Emerald Formula. There are alchemical mandalas and symbolic drawings actually used by the alchemists to illustrate the principles of the Emerald Tablet, as well as interpretations and guided meditations to accompany them. Most engravings have never before been published to a wide audience and date back over five hundred years others have been restored with symbolic colors to convey their archetypal content. [By D.W. On galleys, mark in the margins and use these symbols. For Greek letters, mathematical symbols, or other special symbols, draw them in the margin but also spell out the word and circle it. 

Lucretius poem suggests that the Law of Conservation of Matter has been assumed for at least two millennia. It was certainly a fundamental scientific assumption during the scientific revolution. However, it was Lavoisier who propounded the view that, unless all material mass could be accounted for in a chemical reaction, one could not even try to understand it. Dalton s notebook entry on September 6, 1803 (his thirty-seventh birthday) includes the first symbolic drawings and relative weights of his atoms. ... 

However, to illustrate the polar direction which is either parallel or antiparallel to the bend direction, green direction symbols are incorporated into the middle of bent-core symbolic drawings. For example, in the orthogonal polar smectic phases (SmAP) phases, two-layer structures with six symbolic illustrations are possible depending on the polar direction with respect to the bend direction in adjacent layers (Fig. 6.5). 

To address a unique issue or a specific problem, the use of special emphasis programs is an appropriate motivational tool. These programs define a problem or issue, use symbolism (drawings or slogans) to elicit or trigger an appropriate response, indicate a true interest in the special area of emphasis, and use a structured approach to address the special issue. It is used to cause focused attention on a specific area. An example would be a special emphasis program on back injury prevention.
