Supported organometallic complexes

The functionalized polymers can react in a ligand exchange reaction as shown in Eqs 3 and 4, leading to the corresponding polymer-supported organometallic complexes. Figure 4 illustrates the broad versatility of this approach. 

In conclusion, we have shown that attachment of transition metal complexes to polymer supported triphenylphosphine leads to air stable, versatile immobilised catalysts that are as active as their homogeneous analogues and have the advantage that they can be re-used numerous times. Work is currently underway to exploit the activity of other polymer-supported organometallic complexes in metal-mediated organic synthesis.

Scott and co-workers recently reported applying IR, and Si solid-state CP/MAS NMR to investigate catalyst/ co-catalyst/support interactions in silica-supported olefin polymerization catalysts based on Cp TiMe3. Finally, we mention the research of Lindner et al. on supported organometallic complexes.
