Sulphur Content of Apricots after Drying

Direct titration method for sulphur dioxide with Vitex/iodine [Pg.127]

Sulphur dioxide (ppm) = I X 64, where I is the volume (ml) of 0.02 N iodine solution added. [Pg.127]

The official (AOAC 1990) method for measuring sulphur dioxide is the Monier-Williams technique. The method is lengthy, requiring 3h of refluxing in acid [Pg.127]

The basic modification made to the Monier-Williams technique was to reduce the refluxing time from 3h to 50 min. With this modification, a dried fruit sample can be analyzed in approximately 70 min. There is also a slight modification to the apparatus (Fig. 1). [Pg.128]

Mix gently with continual stirring 100 ml of concentrated HCL with 200 ml of distilled water. [Pg.128]
