She was hired as a chemist with the Cane Sugar Relining Research Project in 1969 and in 1972 was named the administrator of the Project. In 1981, she became the Managing Director of the organization, which at the time expanded its scope and was renamed Sugar Processing Research Institute, Inc. She remained in this position until the time of her death. 

Calculations were performed at the Institute National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), Nantes, France and at Louisiana State University as well as at the Southern Regional Research Center.
