In their follow-up study from 2010, Bozell and Petersen revised this list based on the level of technological development and commercialization [2], Nevertheless, in both studies only three types of bio-based difunctional building blocks were included that is, succinic acid, furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (2,5-FDA or FDCA) and 1,4 3,6-dianhydrosorbitol (isosorbide). 

The structures of the adducts of ergosterol acetate and maleic anhydride, the first of which were isolated by Windaus and Lutringhaus in 1931, have been revised. 8 Qne is a normal adduct of endo configuration, in which the dienophile addition has occurred from the a-side. The others are produced by an addition at C-7 and concomitant abstraction of either the 9a or the 14a hydrogen to give the 7a-succinic anhydride derivatives of 3p-acetoxy-5,8,22-triene and 3p-acetoxyergosta-5,8 (14), 22-triene. Similar addition to the diene system with acrylonitrile and dimethyl diazodicarboxylate has been observed.85... 

This paper revises the wide variety of properties, structures and biodegradation behavior of thermoplastic starch in combination with polymers of vinyl alcohol and with poly-s-caprolactone and of some aliphatic polyesters like poly-hydroxybutyrate-valerate, poly-lactic acid, poly-s-caprolactone and polybutylene succinate. 

Recently, Bozell and Petersen [154] established a revised list of 15 top building block chemicals including ethanol, furans, glycerol, lactic acid, succinic acid, hydroxypropionic acid/ aldehyde, levulinic acid, sorbitol, and xylitol. 

Giordano (1990) calculated concentrations of Ca, Mg, Na, Pb, Zn, Fe, and Al as acetate, oxalate, malonate, succinate, and catechol complexes in three reconstructed MVT ore solutions and a model oil-field brine at 100 °C.
