The purpose of medical and first aid is to provide the anployee with readily available medical consultation. If medical personnel are not readily available, then personnel adequately trained to administer first aid are to be present. These individuals should be provided protection and PPE to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The employer is required to provide fully equipped first-aid kits and they are to be maintained and in snitable numbers to meet the needs of the workforce.
