Strychnos rubiginosa

The methoxy-substituted, isositsirikine-type alkaloid strychnorubigine (49) has been isolated from die root bark of Strychnos rubiginosa DC. (52). With the exception of the configuration at C-16, the structure of 49 has been established from chemical analysis and by IR, MS, as well as NMR spectra. 

The leaves of Nauclea latifolia contain naufoline, angustine, cadambine, 3a-dihydrocadambine, and a new alkaloid, naulafine, which has been formulated,57 on spectroscopic evidence, as (81). Another new alkaloid is strychno-rubigine (10-methoxyisositsirikine), which occurs in the root bark of Strychnos rubiginosa DC.58 Antirhine and pleiocarpamine have been found in the leaves and stem bark of Alstonia odontophora Boiteau [A. roeperi van Heurck et Mull.-Arg.],59 and pleiocarpamine, pleiocarpamine N-oxide, geissoschizine,...

Strychnine-Akuammicine-Ellipticine Group. 11-Methoxyicajine (110)77 and 15-hydroxystrychnine,78 a new alkaloid, have been isolated from Strychnos nux-vomica seeds, and 11-methoxydiaboline from S. rubiginosa.58 10-Hydroxy-akuammicine (sewarine) occurs in the leaves of Rauwolfia volkensii,60 and 11-methoxyakuammicine in Alstonia odontophora.59...
