Structure, story unique structures

The unique structure A with six stereogenic centers made it an attractive synthetic target. We therefore carried out a synthesis of racemic koninginin A in 1994,29 and then that of (—)-koninginin A itself in 1995.30 The proposed structure A, however, was challenged by Xu and Zhu in the same year of 1995,31 and their new structure 139 was confirmed in 2002 by the X-ray analysis of our synthetic (—)-koninginin A.32 Here, in this section I will outline the story about structure revision. [Pg.208]

This is a form where your voice can be truly unique. The form, the substance, the people, and the structure all will be interpreted through tone. The tone can be poetic, ironic, or expressive, but it should be specific, to help us understand why you are drawn to the characters or place of your story. The tone is the critical mode in which you will transmit your ideas and feelings, so in a sense, if you choose the experimental narrative, it is your most important decision. [Pg.216]

One of the most interesting chapters in this book announces the synthesis of a silica that is isostructural with AlPO -5. This is the first example in which synthesis of a unique aluminum phosphate structure preceded the synthesis of other isostructural chemical analogues. Perhaps the next chapter in this story will be the synthesis of an aluminosilicate that has this structure. What will be the conservative point of view regarding the classification, zeolite or nonzeolite, of a substance whose parent is not a traditional zeolite ... [Pg.1]

The final change is the most obvious one, and that involves the presentation of multiple syntheses of the same molecule within a single chapter. In some cases, we have provided a complete story for every successful synthesis in order to explore their different elements fully. In others, we have attempted to accomplish the same goal by adding a short section at the end of the chapter highlighting only the key steps of these additional syntheses, focusing on their unique solutions for certain structural motifs compared with those of the synthesis presented in the main text. Our expectation is that the discussion of additional syntheses in these two formats will... [Pg.13]

Ways of making game plots interesting, taking into account many different kinds of story structures—linear, nonlinear, and multi-path (among others)—unique to games. [Pg.556]

In this introduction, we do not provide a more detailed review of the classical discoveries in the field of vitamin A research. As already discussed in part, these classical discoveries included the original description of fat-soluble A and the introduction of the term ""vitamin A the recognition of retinol as a substance distinct from its carotenoid precursors the development of quantitative chemical methods for the analysis and assay of retinol and related substances the elucidation of the chemical structure and then the total synthesis of retinol, retinyl esters, and retinoic acid the description of the unique pathology of both hypovitaminosis A and h q)ervitaminosis A in experimental animals and man the elucidation of the fundamental role of retinaldehyde in vision the determination of human and animal needs for retinol or its precursors for adequate nutrition and the development of practical syntheses for the commercial production of retinyl esters to meet those nutritional needs. This historical story has been... [Pg.3]

The success story of MALDI started with MALDI-TOF-MS on intact proteins. Hillenkamp and Karas showed that MALDI is unique in that it can combine the abihty for i) desorbing ions of biomacromolecule into the gas phase, ii) preserving their structural integrity, and iif) being perfectly compatible with mass analyzers with almost unlimited m/z range and extraordinary sensitivity (Figs. 11.1 and 11.4) [11,13,14]. [Pg.529]
