Structural Description of the Batteries and Their Physical Parameters

4 Structural Description of the Batteries and Their Physical Parameters [Pg.256]

This section describes the structural details and physical parameters of each thermal battery. The TBl battery consists of two identical cylindrical units. Each unit has a diameter of 15.4 cm and a length of 26 cm. Each battery unit consists of three voltage sections that are connected in parallel. Each section has 20 cells each of a total of six voltage sections that are connected in parallel. The six parallel sections provide a total cell area of 755 cm. The calculated average current density for the TBl battery system is 0.224 A/cm.  [Pg.256]

The design of the TB2 battery system is slightly different than the TBl. The TB2 battery consists of a single cylindrical unit. This unit has a diameter of 15.4 cm and a length of 21.0 cm. The TB2 battery consists of three parallel sections, each containing 16 cells. The total cell area is 377 cm and is capable of yielding an average current density of 0.120 A/cm.  [Pg.256]
