Stripper cylinders

The stripper cylinders incorporated in the piercer plungers k permit of using a common pullback device for main crosshead and piercer crosshead. The two pullback cylinders r are arranged on the front and back sides of the frame and the pullback plungers s are of the differential type. They may just as well be simple plunger pistons provided with a reversing linkage. [Pg.123]

The effect of such stripper cylinders can also be attained by eliminating the distance between the surfaces c and d and providing a flexible stroke limiting device on the columns of the piercer device, the power of which must, however, be greater than that of the piercer, or by arranging the stops in such a way as to provide for their respective position to be adjusted or to be changed by means of spacers quickly. [Pg.148]

Carding sets of this type were frequently used ia U.S. woolea mills duriag the 1950s and 1960s and consist of three 1.5 m main cylinders with seven sets of workers and strippers and a breast section with three sets of workers and strippers. This configuration can be considered as three cards ia tandem. [Pg.148]

RoUer-top cards have five to seven sets of workers and strippers to mix and card the fibers carried on the cylinder. The multiple transferring action and re-introduction of new groupings of fibers to the carding zones provides a doubling effect which enhances web uniformity. Stationary-top cards have strips of metallic clothing mounted on plates positioned concavely around the upper periphery of the cylinder. The additional carding surfaces thus estabhshed provide expanded fiber alignment with minimum fiber extraction. [Pg.149]

The second Hquefaction process is carried out at temperatures from 261 to 296 K, with Hquefaction pressures of about 1600—2400 kPa (16—24 atm). The compressed gas is precooled to 277 to 300 K, water and entrained oil are separated, and the gas is then dehydrated ia an activated alumina, bauxite, or siHca gel drier, and flows to a refrigerant-cooled condenser (see Drying agents). The Hquid is then distilled ia a stripper column to remove noncombustible impurities. Liquid carbon dioxide is stored and transported at ambient temperature ia cylinders containing up to 22.7 kg. Larger quantities are stored ia refrigerated iasulated tanks maintained at 255 K and 2070 kPa (20 atm), and transported ia iasulated tank tmcks and tank rail cars. [Pg.23]

Seed-cotton loss in overhead cleaning equipment can range from 0.2 percent upward (28) but should not be over 1.0 percent. The amount of overhead cleaning machinery needed depends on the trash content of incoming seed cotton. Stripper-harvested cotton with over 30 percent trash can benefit from three extractor stages in addition to the two cylinder stages normally used. [Pg.21]

The experiments to measure final state distributions are done using the apparatus of Fig. 13.8. The stripper and 127° analyzer allow the analysis of the final Rydberg states. When an Ar+ ion beam is used the parent Ar+ beam is deflected from the neutral Ar n( charge exchange products by a pair of deflecting plates, and only the neutrals enter the concentric cylindrical stripper shown in Fig. 13.8. The outer cylinder is grounded, and the inner concentric cylinder is held at... [Pg.281]

The machine is moved from row-to-row during its operation and occasionally to a repair bay by hydraulic motors and steering cylinders that provide power and direction at each comer of the stripping machine. A joystick located at each end of the stripper gives the operator 360-degree control of the machine direction. [Pg.570]

Roller card Generally, any type of card in which rollers do the carding. Usually this refers to a woolen card with a main cylinder and four to seven stripper rolls and worker rolls working in pairs. [Pg.845]

The worker-stripper pairs are located around the tambour. The wool runs in on the tambour underneath the stripper. The tips of the teeth of the fast-rotating tambour cylinder hit the back of the teeth of the slow-moving cylinder. The peripheral speed... [Pg.122]
