Storing and moving hydrogen cylinders

Hydrogen cylinders should not be stored near oxidizers, and other flammable substances. They should be stored in a cool dry place that is well ventilated, fire resistant and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Cylinders should always be stored in an upright position, never on their side, and they should not be rolled on the ground when moving them. The best and easiest way to move a cylinder is with a cylinder cart. [Pg.301]

Never reduce the cylinder pressure below the operating pressure of your system. Usually it is recommended not to go below 25 psig, or at the very minimum 7 psig. You can use check valves to prevent reverse flow into a cylinder. [Pg.302]

Although not necessary, cylinder wrenches can come in handy as some caps may have been placed very tightly on the cylinder making it difficult to unscrew. The cylinder wrench will make easy work of the matter. These wrenches will also help to open very tight cylinder valves easily. [Pg.302]
