This work addresses the study of the elfect of two dilferent organically modified montmorillonites (CLO30B, NAN804) on several properties and biodegradation trends of polylactic acid (PLA) and poly(E-caprolactone) (PCL). As far as mechanical properties are concerned, the highest increases in storage modulus were obtained for PLA nanocomposites compared to PCL ones, due to higher polymer/filler interactions. 

Solvent-assisted intercalation is also the method of choice in difficult to process polymers like PEA. Ghiang and Wu used this technique to prepare PIA-LDH nanocomposites by dispersing LDH modified with an end group-modified PLA in order to get a fully biodegradable material. Even with 1.2% organomo-dified LDH an increase in storage modulus could be achieved.
