Stimuli-controlled dynamic surfaces

This chapter describes the design and utility of dynamic surfaces for biological analysis. The structure, physical properties, and advantages of SAMs of alkanethi-olates on gold are first summarized. Specific examples demonstrating the use of SAMs to create stimuli-controlled dynamic surfaces are then listed. Finally, other works illustrating SAMs as model substrates for cell biology studies are reported.
