Steel making inputs

Coke is an essential input to the steel-making process and is produced by heating coal in coke ovens. To make coke, coal is heated in the absence of oxygen to drive volatile matter from it. Resulting fiom this pyrolysis process is both the solid product—the coke— and a seous material of significant economic potential. 

Gas leaves H2S04 making near the acid input temperature, 350 K. Corrosive H2S04(f) may condense from this gas in cool downstream flues. For this reason, the flues are usually made of stainless steel. 

The final element of the manager s job is to improve. This means that over time the firm must increase the productivity of each process. Productivity is measured as the ratio of process output to process input. For example, if a firm ordinarily produces 10 parts from 1 pound of steel in one hour, its productivity is increased if it can start making 11 parts from 1 pound of steel in one hour.
