Square weave pattern

Another form is the glass cloth, composed of rovings. Weaving can take place in various patterns, varying from practically unidirectional to square weaves with equal properties in the two main directions. 

One of the easiest 3D weave patterns to design is the 3D orthogonal weave pattern because all fibers are straight in the X, Y, or Z directions fiber crimp is minimal and can be eliminated from the calculatiOTis. To calculate the total number of Z yams required per square inch of 3D orthogonally woven preform, the preform thickness must be taken into account. The following equation assumes each Z fiber travels through the entire preform thickness. 

The Twilled Square weave is the second most complex style the warp and shute wires are also the same diameter, but each shute wires passes over two warp wires before going under the next two warp wires. The pattern then repeats. The Plain Dutch weave has the same pattern as the Plain Square, but the warp wires are larger in diameter than the shute wires, which creates smaller pore sizes. The headbox distributes the stock across the full width of the wire through a slit called the slice. The slice opening can be adjusted to give a consistent cross machine profile. The "wire" is a continuous belt made of woven polyester or similar synthetic fiber, or of phosphor-bronze for certain paper grades. Many different weave patterns are used, from the basic square weave to complex multilayer weaves designed to optimize water drainage, paper formation, and retention of fines and fillers.
