Sprinkler system antifreeze

Antifreeze sprinkler system a wet pipe system that contains an antifreeze solution and that is connected to a water supply. [Pg.344]

There are numerous types of sprinkler systems. They can be wet pipe, preaction, dry pipe, deluge or antifreeze. [Pg.398]

The wet-pipe system. The pipes always contain water. Therefore, building temperatures must remain above freezing or provisions must be made for antifreezing solutions. The water does not flow until a sprinkler head starts discharging water. An alarm may signal when this happens. This type of system accounts for 75% of all sprinkler systems presently in operation. [Pg.42]

Small wet pipe systems can be protected by an antifreeze solution. The extent of the system should be limited to 20 sprinkler heads or less. For systems over 20 sprinkler heads, a dry pipe system should be used. [Pg.201]

Wet-Pipe Systems A wet-pipe system contains water under pressure at all times. Any sprinkler head that opens will allow water to pass immediately. Wet-pipe systems are subject to damage by water freezing in the pipes. Storing antifreeze solution in unprotected portions of the piping can prevait this threat... [Pg.240]

Antifreeze. The antifreeze system could be used for small unheated outside areas requiring sprinklers. Normally, it is restricted to 20 heads or less. [Pg.399]
