Spielberg, Steven

Spielberg, Steven, dir. Schindler s List. Perf. Liam Neeson and Ben Kingsley. Universal, 1994. [Pg.400]

My fascination with the fourth dimension was later stimulated by Steven Spielberg s 1982 movie Poltergeist in which a family living in a suburban development is faced with menacing phenomena a child who disappears, furniture that moves by itself, and weird powers gusting through the house and frightening everyone. [Pg.253]

One example shall suffice to demonstrate the historically unacceptable nature of such movies. Illustration 19 shows a scene from Schindler s List where Camp Commandant Goth, standing on the balcony of his house, takes random potshots at the inmates of the Plaszow Camp. Air photos from that time, however, reveal that the Commandant s house was located at the foot of a hill, while the camp itself was on top of that hill (illustration 21).55 The scene shown in the movie, which would have required a configuration of house and camp such as shown in illustration 20, was thus impossible, if only for geographical reasons. And this is certainly not Steven Spielberg s sole forgery. [Pg.259]

Incidentally, Steven Spielberg has shown himself quick to leam from the aforementioned witnesses in one scene of his movie Schindler s List he shows a gigantic conveyor belt continually heaping bodies onto an enormous pile of corpses magically burning on by themselves.105... [Pg.492]

Scarlett Johansson, Bruce Lee, Steven Spielberg (Moon in Scorpio)... [Pg.52]

Obviously someone like Steven Spielberg was a big "get." Rod Steiger, in terms of content, he said something very actor-y, but it s really effective. Same thing with Fritz Weaver. He was in Holocaust he played the patriarch in the family Weiss. They re not necessarily adding heavy academic or historical substance, but they re certainly adding the Hollywood flavor, which was also part of the film. [Pg.300]

The production values of the series lent a seriousness to the Bond stories that, as discussed, might easily have been lost with early success in the theatrical film versions. Neill s Bond remains plausible throughout— tough, smart, and humanly vulnerable. By the end of the run, the international cult following had reinvigorated the franchise and more films went into production over the next ten years. Sam Neill reprised the role once on the big screen, in a Steven Spielberg production of Moonraker. [Pg.38]
